This term s1/2W will be learning all about Penguins and Polar Bears. Yesterday we explored the world of Penguins. We visited the Enchanted Learning website and saw how an information report was written about penguins. Then we needed to label the different body parts of a penguin. When some of us had finished all of this we read ‘Penguins of the World‘ on our itouches.

Today we designed an Easter Egg using the “Dress Eggy” app and then put our picture into StoryRobe. Mrs Westwood decided that the best way to see our StoryRobes was to video the completed ones.Enjoy : )

The children had lots of fun designing their Easter Egg, choosing the colour, decorations and background and then they went and sat outside where it was relatively quiet and recorded their story. Lots of fun and giggles were shared when the stories were replayed.

Every morning Kindergarten and Year One children participate in reading group activities. Today the children in Mrs Hubbards class were able to have Bertie BeeBot there to help them read their sight words.

On Thursday The Digital Leaders again worked with Kindergarten to improve their knowledge and writing of the letters and sounds of the alphabet.

Today Kindergarten had fun with the app Dress Eggy
It’s Easter and here comes Peter Cottontail dropping eggs in every basket! Dress Eggy. There are eggs that you can change the colour on, decorations, messages and even the Easter Bunny! You can also choose a different background for your egg. If you are hooked to the internet you can email it to a friend.
The Digital Leaders worked with Kindergarten again today. Lila was asked to be the interviewer and ask the students what they liked about the iTouches.

These are some of the apps we will be using this week in maths for Year 2 and Year 3.
Division: Squeebles Times Tables Reversed
“The Maths Monster has been up to no good again, capturing the Squeebles, and you have to help their friend Dizzy rescue them by answering division questions in any of 3 different game modes (easy, hard or “mix it up”).”
Basic Addition: Squeebles Number Bonds
‘A simple mode tests number bonds from 1 to 10, with a more advanced mode testing from 11 to 20 and a final mode asking you to “Fill in the Gaps”, giving the answer and asking for the missing number from the sum (for example 3 + ? = 7).’
Times Tables: Squeebles Multiplication
‘This app makes learning times tables fun, by combining a great storyline and fun characters with all the tables they need to learn, from the twos to the twelves.”
We used these apps today and what a disappointment to some of the students. It would get to a certain part in the game and then it would just freeze. You could not get past a certain point at all.
