Our technology classes have changed for the next couple of weeks. Normally we are in the library but as our new library is being built technology will be in the kindergarten room for a while. We had lots of fun. We were able to work on the computers at the back of the room, program the beebot to find the different animals in our farmzoo, explore the new apps on the itouches and ipads and we were also able to create a farm scene using the IWB. Lots and lots of things happening at the one time.

Lola’s Alphabet

Today in reading groups in the S1T and S1H rooms students interacted with Lola’s Alphabet.

They play games like “dragging and dropping” individual letters to make words, and even a matching memory game to become more associated with the alphabet. The games gets more challenging, as their skill level improves.
Techie Tuesday Week 4
May 17
Kindergarten were given the itouches today and asked to choose any program that they liked to enjoy. Some chose Lola’s Alphabet, some Dress Teddy and some Penguin Madness.The kindergarten children are becoming very proficient in their use of the itouches and lots of alphabet sounds are easily recognised whey interacting with the activities on the itouch.

Kindergarten Spelling
May 9
Today Kindergarten used the itouches to help them with their spelling. They used 2 different apps. One was Alpha Writer, and the other was Montessori Crosswords Teach and Learn Spelling with Fun Puzzles for Children.
They both involve moving the letters to make words. Kindergarten had a marvelous time.

Year One Pandas
May 3
As Stage One is learning about bears, today in technology Year one talked about the what a Panda looked like. After reading the Book 3Pandas on the ipad, the children could say that he was black and white, ate bamboo and lived in China.See our technology blog to see what they drew.
Other children were able to use the Dress Teddy app that Kindergarten played with the day before.

Kindergarten and Bears
May 3
This term children in S1H and S1T will be learning about different types of bears.Today in Technology Tuesday, Kindergarten drew pictures of their favourite bears. They could be real or they could be a toy.Kindergarten use art rage to make these drawings. See our technology blog for the pictures.
When they had completed their drawing they then went and used the iTouch to change the different costumes on the teddy that was on the screen. The app is called Teddy.

Dressing Teddy
May 2
Today Bellah, Sophie and Mackenzie helped Kindergarten ‘Dress Teddy.’ The kindergarten children chose what type of background they wanted, bear, clothes, hats, sunglasses and toys.
Kindergarten loved the activity as they are learning about bears this semester.
